3 points Jackson makes about the context & text plus one of each of my own
Jackson
- Context
- First paragraph reconizes Barbara Jordan as the writer
- Tells who the audience is, the 34 members of the House of Judiciary Committe, and also mentions how it was a public speech and there were millions of people tuned in
- Explains the exigence, Nixon's Watergate Scandal.
- Textual
- Jordan made it clear she was not biased because of there politcal differences
- Jordan's argument comes directly from "her faith in the Constitution"
- Mentions how she makes us trust her by "reapting historical quotes before and after her dewscriptions of the presidents acts"
My Own
- Context
- it is considered to be a politcal context because it has to do with the government and a scandal that involved a president and other high figures in the politcal world
- Textual
- Her claim is qualified becuase it is obvious she knows the situation and with out chosing a side she is able to prove her point regarding the situation
